Partnerships are great!
Our first contact with Bradford District Care, NHS Foundation Trust Champions Show the Way was at Pete Scotcher’s Wellbeing Group. that meets at the Kala Sangam Arts Centre in Central Bradford each Tuesday from 10:30-12:30. We delivered sessions to the group (e.g. “Our childhoods”) and Moving Forward members & Facilitators became regular attenders at this group due to it’s benefits.
Mark, a founder member of Moving Forward, became a NHS Champion and began to Facilitate at the Kala Sangam Wellbeing Group.
Moving Forward’s involvement with other partnership projects had clearly indicated that women in the district could benefit from our community approach to dealing with poor mental health.
Our first lady (now a Facilitator), Angela, had completed a short Wellbeing course with Mind in Bradford, and had been referred on to Moving Forward for ongoing support. We were a men only organisation at that time so we referred Angela, and the other ladies to the Kala Sangram Wellbeing Group.
Through Mark & Angela, Moving Forward’s relationship with NHS Champions Show the Way developed into a partnership aimed at creating three more Moving Forward mental health peer support groups in the Bradford District.
- Manningham Women’s – Wednesday’s 9:15-11:15am.
- Worth Valley Mixed – Wednesday’s 9:30-11:30am.
- Keighley Women’s – Thursday’s 9:15-11:15am.
Without the generous help from Shanaz at Champions Show the Way we would not have been able to provide support to women for some time to come. Thank you NHS!
