AGM 2018: Muhammad Umar

Personal statement/manifesto

Standing for the position of, Moving Forward Chairperson.

Dear Moving Forward Members,

Those of you, who know me, know me as Umar; I have been a member of Moving Forward for just over twelve months now, regularly attending groups in Bingley, Bradford and Keighley.

Some of the things that I have achieved In the short time that I have been a member are; I have successfully introduced a mixed walking group (which I promise will start again as soon as the weather gets warmer) and a members WhatsApp group which is nothing short of amazing. For the benefit of our members I started a level 2 counselling skills course, I have stood in for Facilitators when they are unable to attend and ran groups on both Christmas day and New Year’s Day, for those members who struggle at those times.

I have on several occasions gone above and beyond for our members, when they were in a very low place. I have attended the Moving Forward facilitator training course and also most of the Moving Forward Project Management meetings. I have introduced Moving Forward to other organisations so we can form some sort of partnerships with them.

As you can see from the above I am very passionate about Moving Forward, this is because I do not believe I would be here today if not for you all. Although I do still have my own low periods, I now feel that I am in a position to pay something back, for this reason I am standing for the position of Moving Forward Chairperson, and I am asking for your support to help me achieve this.

I thank you all in advance for your consideration.

Kind regards,

Muhammad Umar.
